The Grant Thornton team continues to grow its market presence across Bahrain, supporting dynamic clients to unlock value through the diverse services which we offer. To build on our continued growth, we are now looking to expand our Tax Advisory team, for which we are seeking Consultant and Senior Consultant.

The suitable candidate will be assisting the line managers on tax related assignments (which would include VAT and the proposed taxes in Bahrain under BEPS). The candidate would also get exposure

In supporting on CBCR, UBO and ESR related assignments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Gather, organize and prepare tax returns and records
  • Perform field work on client premises relating to collating and preparation of the information for tax return filing
  • Review financial records, income statements, and expenditures
  • Research tax issues and assist with tax audit activities by maintaining a good repository and archive of necessary tax documents in accordance with tax rules
  • Ensure that all tax reporting requirements are met on schedule and with accuracy
  • Determine tax liabilities by analyzing the client’s financial and legal situations
  • Steer, advise and assist the clients from a tax standpoint
  • Inform management of changes in the tax environment, as well as the ramifications of tax legislation changes
  • Identify risks and manage tax exposures by providing tax planning, structuring, and highlighting tax implications of projects/contractual connections and agreements
  • Ensure that any tax communication is promptly responded to and that precautions are made to avoid fines

Essential requirements:

  • Minimum of two to three years’ experience (post-qualification) in the taxation field (VAT or Corporate Tax or Transfer Pricing and exposure other than this, if any)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure atmosphere by being attentive and having a strong eye for details
  • Exceptional client service along with the ability to develop excellent client relationships
  • Good at meeting deadlines and solving problems
  • Good numeric and analytical skills
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written (English is a must; Arabic will be a plus)
  • Team player
